Park Lane Allotments, Bagworth

Bagworth & Thornton Parish Council owns these allotments, with the main entrance off Station Road in Bagworth.
Allotments have become very popular over recent years and all of our allotments are taken. There is a modest rental for the allotments which come in three sizes. The small sized allotments are available for the 2024-25 season, at £8.50, the half plot size is £12.50 and the full-size plots are £25.00 per year to residents of the village.
Allotments are rented via the Parish Office, who should be contacted if you wish to put your name on the waiting list.

Park Lane Allotments, Bagworth
The Bagworth Allotment Association is dedicated to the promotion of gardening and vegetable growing as a most rewarding and healthy activity. In the pursuance of this it is our aim to develop the allotments site not only as an area for vegetable growing but also as a learning area where members and the wider community can learn about gardening through activities and teaching materials.
LOCATION: Bagworth is a village located 7 miles west of Leicester in rural surroundings. The allotment site is situated off the villages main street, Station Road, surrounded by open countrysidewith glorious views of the surrounding area and villages.
ALLOTMENTS: The allotment site is situated at the junction of Station Road and Park Lane. We have 30 plots and the allotment land is owned by The Parish Council. The current plot rents are a very reasonable £25.00 + £10.00 Association fee per year.
FACILITIES: We have a secure container on site, which is the hub of the site where many families and plot holders of all ages and abilities meet to share idea, stories and advice over a drink or bite to eat. We use the container for social and trading purposes also where we have already held several well attended social events. The site has coded gate access with a newly erected 4 foot fence around the perimeter giving all plot holders and their guests piece of mind. There is the ability to park on site in our large hard standing car park. The allotment committee have secured regular deliveries of manure and wood chippings which are free to use for all plot holders. The committee has recently created a free cycle area allowing plots holders to share their unwanted or excessive items with each other rather than being wasted or going to land fill.
The committee are in the process of designing and creating a nature reserve/community garden in a large corner area of the allotments to be enjoyed by all plot holders their families and their friends.
Objectives for this year are:-
The allotment committee are striving to ensure the allotments have a huge impact on the Bagworth show this year and hope to encourage more people/family's to join us. We will also be organising many social events at the allotments and at other village's locations such as the Bagworth Working men's club and the Bagworth community Centre.
We are hoping to improve our land to encourage more mobility restricted people to enjoy the outdoors while growing their own fruit and vegetables and meeting more like minded people.
The committee are also looking at options for payment plans to help spread the cost of the annual subscriptions through the year, this will hopefully be extended to group excursions also through the year, to places of interest for allotment folk.
